About Me

I have been involved in the pageant and competition world for over 40 years. It all began when I won my first pageant, Miss Rochester, in 1981. Being 19 at the time, it was all very new to me and I had no help or mentors at the time, so I had to learn everything on my own. Four years later, I had the honor of winning Miss Continental 1985 and was thrust onto the national scene. Still being only 23 and very new to the national circuit, I learned by trial and error, how to navigate through this new world.

I eventually began working at the Baton Show Lounge, where you learned quickly or didn’t last very long. The seasoned performers there were always very helpful—with advice and snippets of experience.

In 1995, I ventured to Miss Gay U. S. of A. and took the title. This win eventually took me to Dallas. With the move and a new position at the Rose Room, I learned to hone my craft even more. Soon after, I began judging Miss Gay US of A. In 1997, I won National Entertainer of the Year and Miss Continental Elite in 2006.

This eventually brought me back to Chicago and to the Baton. I have been on the Continental judge’s panel for several years now and had the pleasure of judging Miss Gay America in 2019. With years of experience and not much help, in the beginning, I hope to guide and advise the contestants of the future!
